The passport is the main technical document containing data characterizing the machine, recommendations for its installation and care. The passport indicates the main dimensions of the machine, spindle and table speeds, feed rates, the maximum permissible torque on the spindle and power. It contains information about the main accessories and devices for the machine, about the drive, hydraulic mechanisms, machine control circuit, about eliminating defects during operation, provides electrical and hydraulic circuits, kinematic diagram, specification of bearings, gears, electric motors, spools, valves and others devices. The passport is used by the workshop technologist as a document for assigning processing modes, selecting devices, and planning the placement of the machine in the workshop. The passport is also necessary for mechanics and power engineers as a guide to the operation and repair of the machine; It contains data on repairs and modernization carried out. Spindle box 2D450 (Fig. 89). The spindle box body 1 has two V-shaped prismatic guides 5, with the help of which the box moves along two vertical guides of the assembly - the guide block.

A sleeve 6 with a boring spindle 7, a sleeve feed mechanism and manual movement handles 3 are mounted in the spindle box. The handles 3 are designed in such a way that if you press them “from yourself”, the friction clutch mounted in the worm wheel housing will be activated, resulting in the sleeve will receive mechanical movement from the feed drive. If you pull the handles towards you, the clutch will turn off, then you can rotate them to quickly move the sleeve. Slow movement for precise installation of the sleeve is carried out by handwheel 4.

Inside spindle 1 (Fig. 90) a chuck 2 is mounted for mechanical fastening of the tool. A tool with a specially designed shank is inserted into the groove of the chuck and turned. When the sleeve 5 moves downwards, the tool is secured by springs mounted in the spindle. When the sleeve moves to the upper extreme position, the springs are compressed and the tool is pushed out of the spindle receiving cone. Reducing the force required to move the sleeve is achieved by balancing the sleeve using elastic bands 3 wound on the axis of the drum 4. In the extreme positions of the sleeve, the feed and rotation of the spindle are automatically switched off.

When milling planes and trimming ends, the spindle sleeve must be secured. For this purpose, the lower part of the body is made in the form of a clamp that covers the sleeve and is tightened with screw 2 (see Fig. 89) with a square head. In the upper part of the spindle box (the cover is removed) there is a mechanism for shutting off the supply of the sleeve at a given depth. This mechanism ensures an automatic reduction in the feed amount when approaching a given size and an automatic shutdown of the feed when the size is reached.

To accurately measure the stroke of the sleeve with a table, a removable device is supplied in the form of a rod mounted in the spindle box body and a clamp with an indicator installed on the sleeve. The rod has a folding tab on which a set of measuring tiles corresponding to the size being measured is installed (this mechanism is described in detail in the machine’s operating manual).

In Fig. 91 shows the table clamping device. Bands 8 are attached to the table 9. When the table moves, the bands are positioned with a gap relative to the brake pads 6, mounted on the slide 1. After the table moves, the air from the cylinder 3 is automatically removed and the pads 7, under the action of the springs 2, press the band against the brake pads 6. Adjusting the gaps between the tape and the pads is carried out with screw 5 and nut 4.

A major overhaul and modernization of the 1972 model 2A450 machine was completed.

Before concluding a contract for the overhaul and modernization of the machine model 2A450, an inspection of the machine was carried out, based on the results of which a project for its modernization was developed and the main directions of work were determined. A description of the work performed is briefly presented in this report below.


Modernized machine 2A450

In the process of modernizing the 2A450 machine, a major overhaul of the mechanical part was carried out, which included: overhaul of the table and frame, replacement of ball screw bearings and modification of the bed and table for the installation of a new measuring system, overhaul of the transverse and longitudinal feed drives of the table, overhaul boring spindle groups (including grinding and scraping of guides for the boring spindle group).

During the overhaul of the 2A450 machine, the original feed box was also repaired, including the gearbox of the spindle group and boring spindle. In addition, the two-stage gearbox was overhauled and all previously used bearings were replaced to ensure maximum smooth rotation.

A major overhaul of the pneumatic system and hydraulics of the 2A450 machine was carried out in the following areas:

  • machine lubrication system (with replacement of the lubricator with a modern lubrication system).
  • pneumatic system of the machine with partial replacement of equipment.
  • machine hydraulics with replacement of machine hydraulic equipment.

Of course, repairing the hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems of a machine is accompanied by defects and replacement of rubber products.

The modernization of the electrical part of the machine was carried out in the following main areas:

  • controller replacement
  • complete replacement of electrical routes and electrical automation of the machine.
  • replacement of electric drives and electric motors of the main movement and feeds along the coordinate axes.
  • carrying out inspection and repair of asynchronous motors of auxiliary movements.
  • installation of linear measuring sensors on the corresponding actuators of the machine.

As a result of the above work, the 2A450 machine received a new modern complete control system based on the NCT115 CNC system, NCT DS-D series synchronous digital servo drives and NCT A series synchronous servo motors. In addition, instead of the old bulky control system, a new small-sized electrical machine control cabinet was installed not only compact digital drives and NCT power supplies were installed, but also new compact electrical automation devices for the machine, which reduces the area occupied by the machine and also significantly increases the ease of maintenance of the electrical part of the machine. In addition, the very use of digital drives can significantly improve the quality of processing and expand the functionality of machine tools. In combination with modern electrical automation devices, the use of NCT digital drives significantly increases the energy efficiency of the machine, reducing the amount of electricity it consumes.

Together with the new control system, a new ergonomic movable machine control panel was manufactured and installed. The user-friendly operator console, combined with FANUC-compatible programming of the NCT115 CNC system, ensures comfortable working conditions for the operator, even during long shifts. The NCT115 CNC system allows:

  • perform all the most frequently used software functions and machine cycles used when programming in G-code;
  • provides the ability to work in manual and frame-by-frame modes;
  • has the ability to communicate with a PC via RS 232 interface;
  • has a diagnostic system for actuators and machine reading systems with fault indication.

The machine was installed at the Customer’s enterprise, passed acceptance tests and successfully fulfills the tasks of the production site.
