Functionality check

The tool wide-universal machine model 6720B has been produced by the Odessa Milling Machine Plant since 1982 of the last century and replaced the outdated model.

This structural element is also represented by a separate housing in which the gears are located. The structure can move along installed guides, which represents a transverse feed. The decoding of the name of the machine determines that it belongs to the vertical milling group due to the vertical position of the spindle itself. The tool is clamped using a special cleaning rod. Intermediate stops are installed as a limiter. The design features allow for coordinate boring work. For this purpose, an indicator holder and a tile holder were installed, which are necessary for fixing the measuring tile.

The support (Fig. 15) serves for longitudinal and vertical movement of the main table II mechanically or manually.

Drive shaft 23 receives rotation from the feed box and transmits it to lead screws 2 and 8, through which feeds are communicated to the table.

Mechanical feeds are controlled by a cross handle; its direction of movement coincides with the direction of movement of the caliper. In the longitudinal direction, mechanical feeds are turned off by mechanical stops 6 and 15, which can be set to the desired size.

Vertical feed is switched off by stops installed on the frame.

The table can also be moved manually using flywheels 17 and 18. The movement of the table is controlled:

  • millimeter rulers
  • dials 12.20 with a division price of 0.05 mm
  • gauge blocks and an indicator with a division value of 0.01 mm

Horizontal milling head

Horizontal spindle 7 (Fig. 16) is mounted in the spindle head, which provides transverse feed. The spindle receives rotation from the gearbox through an intermediate gear located in the frame and gear 9 sitting on the spindle.

The front spindle support is a double-row roller bearing 3 with a tapered hole.

Rear support 8-2 ball bearings. Axial forces are perceived by thrust bearings 4.

The tool in the spindle is clamped using an inertial tool clamp that has an independent drive.

When working with cylindrical cutters, the cutter mandrel is supported by a bracket 20, which can be rearranged along the trunk 17. The position of the bracket is fixed with a clamp 21. The trunk is clamped in the desired position with a wedge.

The headstock is moved by screw 18 and a rotating nut fixed in the frame. The amount of mechanical movement is set by stops 19.

For precise movement, an indicator 22 is installed on the headstock, and end gauges are installed on the tile holder.

bed

The bed 15 (Fig. 17) is installed on the base 19 and is a box-section casting on which the main components of the machine are located, connected to each other by kinematic links.

An electric motor is attached to the base on bracket 17, which imparts rotation to the gearbox and feed mechanisms. The transmission of rotation from the feed box to the feed mechanisms of the table and spindle head is carried out by two chain drives 5 and 8-16. The chains are tensioned by 12 sprockets.

Using a flywheel located in the upper part of the frame, the horizontal milling head is moved manually.

Puller for installing vertical head

The puller (Fig. 27) is designed to install the vertical head into working and non-working positions. The puller consists of a body I fixed to the frame, a bracket 6, two levers 3.4 and two axes 2.5.

Tool clamping mechanism

The clamping mechanism (Fig. 16; 18) consists of a cleaning rod 10, a nut 12, a flywheel 13 with pawls II and an electric motor 16.

Rotation from the electric motor is transmitted to the flywheel. When a certain moment of inertia is reached, one of the pawls overcomes the force of the spring 15 and transmits rotation to the nut 12 through the driver 14. The cleaning rod, screwed into the nut, receives a reciprocating motion and, with the help of four balls 5, pulls the tool into the spindle with a force of up to 12,000 N.

The clamping (spin) time of the tool is 3-4 seconds. Guaranteed tool clamping with two activations of the mechanism.

Gearbox

For faster movement, a feed box was installed. A recommendation for using this function is to set the cross handle to the neutral position. This eliminates the possibility of a fairly large number of problems with gears.

The piston pump significantly extends the service life of the structure. Its intended purpose is to supply a lubricating fluid, which helps reduce friction. The design of the piston performs a reciprocating movement, due to which the lubricating fluid is sucked in and supplied to the friction area. To control the degree of lubrication, the 676p milling machine has a transparent eye, through which the process of oil mist formation in the gear friction zone is monitored.
