Like any other vehicle, a motorcycle requires periodic maintenance. However, if a car can be driven into a pit and repairs can be carried out without problems, then such a trick will not work with a two-wheeled “horse”. In this case, a special motorcycle stand is required, which is a rigid welded frame structure capable of lifting the “bike” and fixing it at the desired height.

Such “stands” can be purchased without any problems at any specialized store, but they will cost at least 5,000 rubles. Some motorcyclists prefer to use improvised stands for these purposes, the role of which is most often played by hemp. However, this is not entirely convenient. Therefore, it is much easier to make a stand yourself.

Types of motorcycle stands

Today, tackles have proven themselves to be very convenient devices for repairing and servicing a bike. Every motorcycle owner who has had to repair their equipment has thought about purchasing such a device. The tackle allows the owner of the iron horse to install it very steadily for repairs. The roller is very convenient when changing a wheel - it allows you to hang the motorcycle and thereby easily remove the wheel.

We can say that a homemade stand is a do-it-yourself motorcycle stand, only without a table. If there are wheels, the lift can easily be moved to a given location for repairs. The small dimensions of the device allow it to be used in places with limited space.

Types of stands:

  • rear - for servicing the rear of the motorcycle;
  • front - for servicing the front of the motorcycle.

The front type lift comes with an adapter that allows you to hang the wheel for repairs. The adapter is selected for a specific bike model. This tool is suitable for repairing the front fork. A do-it-yourself car tray is ideal for storing cars in the winter. It has a simple design and does not require special knowledge to operate it.

The rear type tackle is a little more structurally complex. It features an L-shaped device with a handle. It is equipped with clamps whose task is to securely hold the wheel. The width of the clamps is selected for a specific wheel. Such tackles are mainly used by repair services, as they allow lifting weights of up to 300 kg. With the help of such a tackle, you can hang the motorcycle in such a way that the suspension is maximally unloaded. Thanks to this feature, it is quite easy to replace the chain.

There is no lock against unintentional lowering, high metal consumption, the frame will get in the way - you will constantly stumble, the wheel lock is inconvenient, there is no hatch for removing the rear wheel, with such a length of the hydraulic cylinder you will have trouble lifting it. The point is that if there are large tolerances, then each pair of levers is assembled individually, where left-right, top-bottom is marked. The holes in the levers are sharpened in one pass, otherwise there will be a difference in distances and the structure will move. The mortgages must be welded together with another lever through the king pin. Maybe this is not important for a motorcycle, but I have a 3-ton lift and a 25 mm kingpin. Therefore, the general advice is minimal tolerances, laser cutting of the material with an almost tight fit.

For 114 tons of force and with a pressure in the pneumatic system of 6 kg/cm2, the piston diameter of the pneumatic cylinder needs 1556 mm. More than one and a half meters, [swearing is prohibited]! As they say, we wish success to the designer in this endeavor :)))

The lift always first goes through the vehicle's clearance height, and then also the suspension travel.

I wrote this more for the author, so that he would be imbued with the idea and think in the direction of hydraulics, otherwise at some point in the climb (as you quite rightly noted), the force transfer coefficient becomes less than unity and, due to the property of gas to expand unlimitedly, the table with the motorcycle first shoots up , and then crushes the structure into the floor, which will not happen with hydraulics due to the inextensibility and incompressibility of the liquid. And the areas of the pistons differ significantly, due to the difference in permissible pressure.
