Starter repair

The starter is responsible for starting the unit. Malfunctions indicate the presence of the following malfunctions:

  • the spring burst;
  • the pulley is damaged;
  • The starting cable is damaged.

Sequence of actions for replacing a worn starter cord:

  • the starter is disassembled, the mechanism is removed, having first unscrewed the screws securing the housing to the engine crankcase;
  • the cord is pulled out at a distance of 30 cm through the hole in the pulley;
  • the return spring is set to the neutral position;
  • the central screw is unscrewed and the pulley itself is removed;
  • a new cord is inserted, tensioned, while 3 turns are wound around the mechanism and secured with a screw;
  • the cord is then pulled through a groove in the starter housing and handle.

The return spring is tensioned by rotating 2 turns clockwise, taking into account that it is compressed. When replacing a broken part, the spring should pop out after pulling the inner part down.

Break-in rules

Running in a chainsaw does not last long at XX. Therefore, after starting the engine, you need to idle for about 5 minutes, then start sawing trees with a diameter of no more than 10 cm at medium speed.

The technological process is carried out according to a cyclic scheme:

  • 1.5 minutes with minimum load;
  • 20 seconds on XX without it.

After operating for the first 25 hours, the unit can reach full power; all rubbing parts are worn in.

During this period, be sure to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • do not overheat the power plant;
  • do not work for a long time at XX;
  • do not load as much as possible;
  • suppress long-term slipping of the clutch.

After final running-in, the following work is carried out:

  • inspection of the crank mechanism;
  • cleaning carbon deposits on all parts;
  • checking fasteners;
  • assembly;
  • preparation of a flammable mixture;
  • adjusting the carburetor to maximum power under load.

The saw chain also needs running-in. Attention is paid to its lubrication and tension. The part is tensioned so that it can be rotated freely by hand. Lubrication is carried out by immersion in oil. Then the chain is run at idle for 3-5 minutes. The engine is stopped, the chain cools down and only then the tension is checked.

What is a carburetor?

A carburetor is a device that has the following functions: mixing gasoline and air, creating a combustible mixture to power the engine and regulating its flow.
Husqvarna carburetor parts are made by casting from various alloys with further mechanical finishing. This ensures the high quality of Husqvarna carburetors, which you can verify by purchasing this spare part at the 220 Volt store. This is an integral element of many tools among garden petroleum equipment, for example, chainsaws, brush cutters, and lawn mowers. In a number of situations, for example, with poor fuel filtration, the carburetor may fail. Fortunately, this will not be a reason to spend money on a new tool, because you can buy a carburetor separately (both regular and assembled). A carburetor is a device that is designed to prepare a combustible mixture of liquid fuel and air, which ensures the operation of carburetor internal combustion engines.

Modern carburetors are equipped with many different devices and systems that have numerous holes of different calibers, an extensive network of channels, pneumatic chambers and lever transmissions.

The carburetor is one of the main parts of any fuel-powered equipment. To ensure normal and stable operation of the equipment, the carburetor must be periodically checked and, if necessary, adjusted.

Chainsaw carburetors have three adjustment screws. The “L” screw is designed to regulate low speeds, the “H” screw is responsible for regulating high speeds, and the “T” screw is for idling the chainsaw. So, with screws “H” and “L” the ratio of the mixture of air and gasoline is adjusted; when the screws are unscrewed, the speed increases, as the mixture becomes richer, and when tightened, the speed drops.

However, there are quite common cases when adjusting the carburetor cannot eliminate problems in the operation of the equipment. This occurs due to the final failure of the part, which occurs as a result of natural wear or due to improper use.

Husqvarna chainsaw does not start What to do

What to do if the chainsaw does not start

Have a nice day, dear readers and subscribers of my blog! At one inopportune moment, you may find that your chainsaw will not start.

But don’t rush to immediately hand over the tool for repair; maybe you can fix this damage yourself.

I will tell you what to do when the chainsaw does not start, and how to find the right solution to this problem.

The Chainsaw won't start! Fast and effective repairs at no cost!

Spark plugs for chainsaws

here For the development of the channel.

If you see black carbon deposits or a lot of fuel, then the carburetor may not be properly regulating the fuel supply.

If your saw tool starts, but immediately stalls, then the problem needs to be looked for in the carburetor jet or fuel filter. Perhaps they are clogged.

To check if the breather is damaged, you need to disconnect the fuel hose from the carburetor and see if the fuel mixture leaks out of it.

If the saw does not start when hot, then the problem may be in the muffler. Sometimes it gets clogged from the exhaust itself.

Quite often, saw breakdowns occur due to a small amount of chain lubricant. This happens when the channels are clogged or the oil line is leaking.

It is very bad when a breakdown occurs in the cylinder. If not, MS-1600 grease: features, use. When examining it, you may find unevenness or chips, and this may be the cause of the problem.

Separately about the breakdown of the most common model

Let's take a closer look at the problems of the Stihl 180:

  • Clogged carburetor or fuel filter. These are the most common problems that can be easily resolved after cleaning. Sometimes the filter has to be changed;
  • Replacing the spark plug;
  • Sometimes the cylinder or seals need to be replaced.

The Stihl saw is quite strong and durable, so you can often fix a breakdown yourself. In fact, the same applies to the Partner, Ural, Makita and Husqvarna models.

When we discover a malfunction in our chainsaw, we look for the cause in small ways, gradually checking and eliminating the problems. Such problems are easy to fix yourself. But if the breakdown is serious, and you do not have enough experience, then this should be done by a specialist.

Hard to start when cold

The answer to this question is clear – there is no compression. This happens - the rings, most likely, have simply worn out due to long use, therefore, when you try to start the device directly in a cold state, there is not enough compression to start it directly.

But given that most “literate” people begin to systematically pull the handle, at the same time the rings produce friction against the liner, therefore, oil and gasoline get on them, the degree of compression increases and the engine starts. And when the chainsaw is already warmed up, then of course it will start.

But this kind of manipulation is quite harmful to the device, since several times you will achieve the desired effect through such actions, but the time will come when the chainsaw may finally break down. Therefore, the best thing you can do is to change the rings that are already worn out. This is not a complicated process, so you can completely handle it yourself without using the services of a service.

What should I do

It is important that sparks on the chainsaw cannot be caused by a malfunction of the fuel system. In order not to look for problems with proper ignition, this problem must be solved immediately

The carburetor of a chainsaw can “overflow,” that is, throw too much fuel into the combustion chamber. Inside the candle there is a porcelain insulator from which a metal core emerges. On it, under the plate, they come into contact with the “ground” (minus) and a spark occurs.

But if the space inside the spark plug between the bead and ground is filled with excess fuel, especially along with conductive contamination, the circuit (spark) can slip inside the spark plug. There will be no sparks where needed.

However, if there is no spark at the chainsaw, the fuel will not burn and the spark plug must simply be wetted with fuel while the carburetor is running. It is almost impossible to visually determine whether the spark plug is overfilled and therefore not sparking or not sparking excessively. Therefore, in order to accurately diagnose this “key point” (the carburetor or inflammation is faulty), you need to have 2-3 guaranteed serviceable spark plugs on hand.

  1. Let's put a working candle.
  2. Spark checked.

If a spark occurs, this means:

  • The old spark plug was faulty;
  • The old spark plug worked but was filled with fuel.

The working spark plug is screwed into place and they are trying to start the engine. If it starts working correctly, the problem is solved. If not, turn the spark plug back on and watch for a spark. There are no sparks - another dry working spark plug is placed on them.

The spark burns, the candle burns, they try to start. If it does not start again, the spark plug is turned off, causing a spark. If the spark on your chainsaw disappears again and the spark plug fills up, there is an almost 100% chance that the cause is an overfill.

Troubleshooting algorithm

In all other cases, the search for ignition problems begins from the end and in order. After each step, check the spark.

  1. Replace the old spark plug with a guaranteed working one.
  2. If the model has a removable spark plug cap, remove it, and the exposed spark plug wire is connected to ground with a gap similar to that of a spark plug. They pull the starter. If there is a spark, the problem is in the cap. She is being eliminated.
  3. Change the spark plug wire where it is possible to remove it from the source.
  4. Visually inspect the wires from the switch. Vibration or contact with metal can cause damage. If there are friction points, the wire is replaced, even if there is no external damage to the insulation. You can use a tester or multimeter to check the wire.

This is where minor and easily fixable problems end. If the problem is not solved, then the reason is more serious. Modern coils and ignition systems on most chainsaws are very reliable. They are designed to last even longer than the entire chainsaw as a whole. There are no mechanical moving parts like older cam systems. They are sufficiently insulated from clogging and moisture.

If, due to an accidental manufacturing defect, an interturn short circuit occurs in the coil or the electronics fail, these parts cannot be repaired. Will need to be replaced with new ones.

It is not uncommon for a mechanical failure to occur. Due to wear or destruction of the crankshaft bearing, play appears on it. And then the magnetic rotor begins to touch the body of the ignition system, inside which it rotates. This is a serious breakdown. You will need to “halve” (disassemble) the entire engine, replace the bearing, and put everything back in place.

Preparing a fuel mixture for a chain saw.

Since the majority of chain saws available to consumers are equipped with two-stroke engines that do not provide separate lubrication of rubbing parts, it is very important to prepare the correct fuel mixture during break-in. It is prepared from gasoline and two-stroke engine oil in a certain proportion recommended by the chainsaw manufacturer

What gasoline should I use for the fuel mixture?

The basis is gasoline with an octane rating of at least 90. For Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, the optimal fuel option is AI-92. Avoid using questionable fuels, as well as using any additives that increase the octane number. Over time, additives lose their properties, and gasoline becomes of low quality.

Using fuel with a low octane number when running in and operating a chainsaw causes uneven engine operation and knocking. At the same time, there is an increase in engine temperature and an increase in the load on the main bearings. Imaginary savings most often lead to failure of the cylinder-piston group, requiring significant funds to restore it.

New chainsaw owners often have a question about what kind of gasoline to pour into the tool tank: leaded or unleaded? Leaded fuel is used to start an engine without a catalyst. If your saw has a catalyst (green gas tank cap), then use unleaded fuel.

What oil should I use in the fuel mixture, and in what proportions?

Two-stroke engine oil is used both for break-in and for continuous operation of the chainsaw. If you don’t want to take risks and experiment, then purchase the lubricant recommended by the tool manufacturers. As a rule, large companies produce fuel and lubricants for them to order. This allows the manufacturer of chain saws and other gas-powered tools to guarantee proper starting and trouble-free operation of their products.

Since branded oils for chainsaws Husqvarna, Stihl, Partner, Oregon, Jonsered are bottled from the same barrel, you can break in the tool with any of the following

In this case, it is very important to take into account the recommendations both in the instructions for oils and the recommendations of chain saw manufacturers. When using branded fuels and lubricants, when preparing the fuel mixture, follow the operating instructions for the gas-powered tool

Recommended proportions of fuels and lubricants when preparing fuel
Break-in chainsawProportionGasoline, (liters)Oil, (liters)
Husqvarna up to 1.5 kW1:4010,025
Husqvarna over 1.5 kW1:5010,020
Stihl up to 1.5 kW1:4010,025
Stihl over 1.5 kW1:5010,020
Partner1:4010,025
Partner1:3310,030

If branded oils are not available, you can break in a new chainsaw using third-party lubricants of the JASOFB or ISOEGB class. According to the instructions, the ratio of components is taken at the rate of 1:33. At the same time, the tool manufacturer does not recommend using four-stroke motor oils or two-stroke motor oils for water-cooled outboard engines, labeled as TCW.

The fuel mixture for a chainsaw to be run in should be prepared in a clean container intended for storing fuel and lubricants.

  1. Pour half the required gasoline into the container;
  2. Add required amount of oil;
  3. Gently mix the ingredients;
  4. Pour in the remaining gasoline and stir.

Device, maintenance instructions

Structure of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw:

  • housing with fuel tank, oil tank;
  • handle holders - front, rear;
  • saw blade - bar, chain.

Maintenance rules for the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw:

  • assemble the chainsaw according to the instructions for the tool;
  • prepare the fuel mixture, if you plan to immediately start working with the saw, fill the mixture and start working according to the manual;
  • adjust the carburetor using the idle speed screw, remember that the carburetor is adjusted at the factory during assembly of the saw, the recommended number of revolutions at working speed is 9000 per minute;
  • check the condition of the muffler every time before starting work;
  • storage duration of the fuel mixture is 4 weeks;
  • Clean the air filter every 50 hours of operation;
  • The spark plug is replaced every 30 days.

Fuel and oil, lubricants for Husqvarna 135

Recommended type of oil for creating a fuel mixture: Husqvarna HP 2-stroke oil. The mixing ratio for the fuel mixture is 50:1. Type of gasoline for refueling chainsaws: AI-92, AI-95. Use genuine Husqvarna oils to lubricate the chain and bar. Lubrication frequency: The chain and bar must be lubricated constantly while the chainsaw is in working order and while it is being used.

According to technical standards, the fuel mixture is replaced after break-in, that is, after 5 hours of using the tool, and then as fuel is consumed. An oil change is also performed after break-in and subsequently every 40-50 hours of operation (approximately once every 90 days).

Duration of operation of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw

The Husqvarna 135 chainsaw is designed for 30-40 minutes of operation with a full fuel tank. The rate of fuel consumption is not the same and depends on the operating mode, the number of engine revolutions, the load on the tool and the frequency of turning the engine on and off during the sawing process. During break-in, less fuel is consumed because the chainsaw is not working at full capacity. At the end of the run-in, consumption may increase.

The main malfunctions of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw and how to fix them

Table 1. Main malfunctions of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw.

MalfunctionsCauseRemedy
1. Chainsaw won't startPoor quality fuel; air filter clogged, spark plug problem Replace fuel, clean filter, inspect spark plug for carbon deposits, remove carbon deposits, or replace spark plug
2. Black smoke comes out during operationLow quality gasoline, excess oil, poor quality oil in the mixtureIt is recommended to use flammable and lubricants only produced by Husqvarna; the use of Champion and Partner fuels and lubricants is allowed

Husqvarna saw disassembly algorithm

The process of disassembling a Husqvarna chainsaw is quite simple. In order to do everything correctly and not break parts of the housing or CPG, it is necessary to disassemble in the following order:

  1. Top cover.
  2. Chain and saw brake cover.
  3. Starter.
  4. Flywheel and clutch.
  5. Front handle.
  6. Carburetor.
  7. Oil pump.
  8. Engine.

Depending on the Husqvarna model, the disassembly procedure may vary slightly.

Important: before you start disassembling the chainsaw, you need to clean it. When working with a saw, a lot of chips and wood dust are generated, which during disassembly can get into the internal parts of the Husqvarna chainsaw

Removing the side cover and saw set

The side cover, or also called the saw chain brake cover, is held in place with two thirteen nuts.

After unscrewing the nuts, the cover is removed from the guide pins, after which you can remove the bar and chain from the chainsaw. Some models of Husqvarna saws have a special mechanism installed that allows you to dismantle the cover and saw set without the help of special tools.

Starter

The starter is located on the right side of the Husqvarna and is held in place by several screws. By unscrewing them, you can easily remove the starter and thereby gain access to the flywheel and ignition coil.

Features of Husqvarna 236

Husqvarna strives to meet all existing environmental standards and for this reason equips its saws with modern two-stroke engines made using X-Torq technology. This is exactly the engine that is installed on Husqvarna 236 saws.

X-Torq

The essence of the system is that during operation the cylinder is purged with clean air, while on conventional engines the purging is performed with a new portion of the fuel mixture.

This solution allows you to reduce the amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust and make it more environmentally friendly and safer for humans and the environment.

The advantage of this technology is reduced fuel consumption. The disadvantages include a slight loss of power compared to saws of similar engine size.

Primer

Another design feature of the Husqvarna 236 is a manual fuel pump called a primer.

The pump is installed on the body of the chainsaw and is designed to facilitate starting after a long period of inactivity. In order to pump fuel into the main chamber of the carburetor, you just need to press the primer a couple of times, and then continue starting according to the instructions that are on the body of the chainsaw.

Combined control

Another design feature of the Husqvarna 236 is a combination lever with which you can control the position of the air damper and stop the engine.

The function is quite useful; according to the manufacturer, it will improve the stability of the chainsaw engine.

Air purification system

The Husqvarna 236 design uses a centrifugal cleaning system called Air Injection. It allows you to increase the interval between air filter maintenance, which has a positive effect on the cost of owning a chainsaw.

X-Torq technology

An innovative development by Husqvarna engineers is X-Torq technology. It is designed to reduce the amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust gases, which is about 30 percent for two-stroke engines. In order to understand how the system works, it is necessary to imagine how the exhaust gas emission process occurs in a conventional two-stroke engine.

And this happens as follows: after the compressed fuel under the piston ignites, the piston moves to the bottom under gas pressure, thus opening the bypass channels and the fuel mixture, which was previously in the engine crankcase, rushes into the cylinder and pushes the exhaust gases into muffler.

Of course, with this method of purging the cylinder from exhaust gases, a certain amount of the finished fuel mixture will enter the muffler and then end up in the atmosphere.

In engines with the X-Torq system, cylinder blowing is organized in a different way. After a fire has occurred in the cylinder, the piston begins to descend and at a certain moment a bypass channel opens, through which clean air, free of fuel impurities, enters the cylinder directly from the air filter.

Next, the piston drops even lower and, at the same time, closing the channel for supplying clean air, opens the supply of the fuel mixture to the cylinder.

As a result of such changes, exhaust gases are squeezed out of the cylinder with clean air and do not contain impurities of unburned fuel. For the same reason, the engine becomes more economical, this is explained by the fact that fuel losses during the operating cycle are reduced.

Video about X-Torq in action

Below is a video that schematically shows how power strokes occur in the engine of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw with X-Torq technology.

Chainsaws "Husqvarna" - main malfunctions

A tool from a Swedish manufacturer can turn hard work into a simple task. The Husqvarna 137, Husqvarna 240 and Husqvarna 365 chainsaw models are distinguished by three features:

  • high engine power;
  • improved engine filtration system;
  • the ability to absorb excess vibrations.

If you operate the tool strictly according to the instructions and correct its problems in a timely manner, then it will delight you with reliable and stable operation. Correctly carried out repairs with original spare parts will allow you to use the saw for a long time.

The main cause of chainsaw failure is most often engine failure, which can manifest itself as follows:

  • won't start;
  • Unstable operation at idle speed;
  • starts and stalls immediately;
  • do not have enough power.

In this case, the fault should be looked for in the ignition system, piston group or fuel system. Often the reason for poor tool performance may be related to the clutch, brake system, lubrication mechanisms, or tire.

Ignition system

Do-it-yourself repair of the Husqvarna 240 chainsaw, or any other model, should begin with troubleshooting in the ignition system.

First of all, experts recommend removing and inspecting the candle. The condition of this element will indicate shortcomings in the operation of the fuel system.

  1. If the spark plug is completely dry, it means that the fuel mixture is not entering the cylinder. In this case, the spark plug is screwed into place and the fuel system is repaired.
  2. If the spark plug is heavily flooded with the fuel mixture, the rules for starting the unit may be violated, or the carburetor may be poorly adjusted. It is necessary to turn off the fuel supply and start the starter. This is done in order to remove excess fuel. The candle must first be cleaned with a sharp object, then washed with detergents, dried with a hairdryer and put back in place. After this, the tool is launched and its operation is checked.
  3. If there are no fuel residues on the spark plug, then it must be cleaned, washed and checked for the presence of a spark. Its absence may indicate a violation of the gap between the flywheel and its magnetic circuit or a breakdown of the ignition module.

A malfunction in the ignition system may be due to the use of bad oil or an incorrect ratio of gasoline to oil.

Fuel supply system

If fuel does not enter the chainsaw tank, there may be two reasons for this:

  1. The filter is clogged.
  2. The lid is clogged.

In this case, the fuel is not supplied in full, and the tool does not start or starts and immediately stalls. The repair consists of cleaning the air filter and cover.

The filter must be removed very carefully so that the dirt that clogs it does not get into the carburetor. It can be cleaned and washed with ordinary detergents.

Carburetor repair

The heart of any chainsaw is the carburetor, which is responsible for most tool failures. Do-it-yourself repair of this unit involves disassembling and cleaning. If the breakdown is serious, then you should contact a service center for help.

Most often, tool malfunctions are associated with the use of low quality gasoline or oil. To protect the carburetor from damage, you must follow some preventive measures:

  1. The chainsaw should be started strictly according to the instructions.
  2. It is not recommended to store gasoline in a plastic container. This will help avoid severe soot.
  3. The fuel mixture cannot be stored for a long time, as over time it loses its quality.

How the mechanism works

Almost all instruments, not foreign ones ( Husqvarna

, Makita, Stihl, Partner 350), not Chinese chainsaws, not domestic ones (Druzhba, Ural), they are designed the same. Therefore, it is not difficult to find the reason why the device does not start or stall.

READ Chainsaw Shtil 180 Stalls at Idle

Of course, there are four elements where problems arise:

  • The fuel for which the carburetor is responsible;
  • Lubrication;
  • The air that enters through the air filter;
  • The quality of the spark required depends on the ignition unit.

They depend on each other and do not interact with each other. If any element does not work correctly, the saw stops working.

The first question is what remains for our client to do: the tools start up differently - hot and cold. Two commonly used mechanisms are responsible for this commonly rumored process.

Be sure to look at what is written in the user manual. It states that when turning it on, you need to make sure that the emergency stop brake is engaged. However, starting a saw with a brake is much more difficult, so it is better not to turn on the brake.

You can find out from the instructions that inside the body there is a fuel tank and an engine, and outside there is a saw part (bar with chain), a handle and a starter.

First you need to figure out exactly why it won't start.

tool. Nettle, the saw starts up, alas, it immediately stalls, or loses power and cutting quality.

Today, it is probably difficult to find an owner who does not have such a universal, practical, and multifunctional tool as a chainsaw. This device is deeply rooted in everyday life, and this is not surprising because the chainsaw has become for us simply an indispensable assistant in the field of cutting wood of various types, preparing firewood for the winter, cutting down trees, and it is also used in the construction industry, etc. Naturally, about its positive You can talk endlessly on both sides and she copes with her task simply superbly. But, like any equipment, no matter how unique and highly practical it is, over time it breaks down and stops starting, and this is normal. The most important thing at this moment is to correctly determine the cause of the malfunction and quickly eliminate it.

Naturally, you can turn to various kinds of services that, for a fee, will put your equipment in order. But you will have to pay a significant cost. What for? After all, you can try to determine the extent and cause of the breakdown yourself and fix it.

Since there are such minor breakdowns that can be repaired within five minutes. We will talk about them and ways to eliminate them in this article.

Husqvarna 236 stalls when pressing gas

Despite the high performance of chainsaws, sometimes there are times when the tool stops working normally. In particular, a common situation is that the chainsaw begins to stagnate when you press the gas. For experienced tool owners, this problem is known, but beginners who encounter this for the first time will have to seek help from specialists. But don’t rush, in the material you can find all the important causes of the malfunction, and also try to eliminate them.

When tilted

If the saw does not develop speed when tilting, turns off, or stops working, you need to check the fuel level in the tank. If it is not too high, the tilted device is supplied with sufficient fuel, since the fuel pipe is above the mixture level.

Filter is dirty

To solve a problem like this, all you need to do is

This is to disconnect the (fuel) hose from the carburetor and pay attention to whether fuel flows out of it. Because if the mixture flows in full flow, this means that the breathing apparatus is not dirty, but if on the contrary, then the cause of the breakdown is found out

Stalls when you press the gas

If the engine stalls when gas is added, it may be due to:

  • The carburetor is clogged or incorrectly installed;
  • Air filter contamination, when the engine does not have enough air to establish speed;
  • A clogged fuel filter contributes to the supply of an insufficient amount of fuel mixture;
  • Malfunction of the cylinder-piston group. If there is insufficient amount of oil in the fuel mixture, excessive friction of the piston against the cylinder walls occurs, which leads to overheating and scoring.

In case of overheating due to a lack of oil in the fuel mixture, a major engine overhaul will be required, which is one of the most unpleasant consequences. To properly adjust or clean the carburetor, you should take it to a specialist, since lack of experience with small parts can damage the mechanism. Check your air and fuel filters.

If the chainsaw does not allow you to develop speed when you press the gas, then it is advisable to try replacing the fuel mixture in the tank, especially if it has been in the tool for a long time.

Wrong fuel

An important fact is that for trouble-free operation of the tool you need to be very careful about the fuel itself. Because if this mixture is not prepared correctly, most chainsaws simply will not start. Therefore, every owner will guess to look for the cause of fuel failure. That is why, in order for your tool to always work correctly, you need to use only high-quality gasoline for the mixture.

Otherwise, blocking the mixture directly in the canisters will cause it to lose all its octane properties, and this will lead to significant problems with the tool.

Troubleshooting yourself

If it is impossible to start the engine, it is necessary, observing the order, to perform the following actions:
Location of the air filter and spark plug.

  1. Check the presence of gasoline in the tank.
  2. Replace fuel if it has been stored for more than a month.
  3. Check the fuel filter. Disconnect the hose from the carburetor and observe the stream that flows out. If gasoline flows freely, the fuel filter is not clogged. If the flow rate is insufficient, clean the hole in the tank cap or filter.
  4. Clean the air filter. The air filter can be removed for a test run.
  5. Inspect and clean the muffler from burning.
  6. Check the functionality of the launcher. If necessary, repair the starter (replace the pulley, spring or cable).
  7. Disassemble and clean the clogged carburetor.
  8. Test the high-voltage wire with a tester to ensure there is no break.
  9. Measure the gap between the flywheel magnets and the ignition module (should be 0.2 mm).
  10. Unscrew the spark plug and inspect it. Measure the gap between the electrodes with a feeler gauge (normally 0.5-0.6 mm). Based on the appearance of the electrodes, we determine the nature of the malfunction. If the spark plug is dry, there is no supply of working mixture. A working part flooded with gasoline indicates poor carburetor adjustment or lack of spark. To check for spark, connect the high voltage tip to the spark plug, place the skirt on the cylinder radiator and pull the starter cord. If there is no discharge between the electrodes, the spark plug must be replaced. The formation of carbon deposits on the electrodes indicates a poor quality of the fuel mixture. The central and side electrodes should be cleaned with sandpaper.
  11. No compression. The reason is failure of the piston group. Measure compression. First you need to unscrew the spark plug. Then insert the pressure gauge into the cylinder bore and use the starter cord to move the piston. The state of the cylinder-piston group (CPG) is judged by the pressure in the cylinder. It must be at least 8 atm. Low performance is caused by wear of the cylinder, piston, and piston rings.

Chainsaw Husqvarna 240 does not start Reason

What to do if the chainsaw does not start

Have a nice day, dear readers and subscribers of my blog! At one inopportune moment, you may find that your chainsaw will not start.

But don’t rush to immediately hand over the tool for repair; maybe you can fix this damage yourself.

I will tell you what to do when the chainsaw does not start, and how to find the right solution to this problem.

Why won't my chainsaw start? Tips from a mechanic for repairing gasoline powered tools 0

Video about the carburetor.

Won't start or stalls and your chainsaw stalls 350 and Husqvarna 142,. When examining it, you may find unevenness or chips, and this may be the cause of the problem.

Why does a chainsaw stall under load?

Sometimes the chainsaw is unable to function properly under load. Most often this is caused by improper adjustment or leaking carburetor. In addition, the cause of this problem may be air leaks through the carburetor gasket or crankshaft oil seals. A tool that is unable to function under load will also not be able to reliably maintain idle speed.

Diagnostics begins with checking the carburetor and crankcase for leaks. If air leaks through the crankshaft oil seals are detected, they must be replaced. If air leaks are detected in the carburetor, installing a repair kit of gaskets is required to solve the problem.

If these actions do not lead to the desired result and the engine crankcase and carburetor are sealed, then you need to adjust the carburetor.

If a Husqvarna chainsaw stalls under load, then in case of any deviations in the functioning of the motor, you should first of all check the impulse hose, since this is the most common cause of failure of chainsaws of this brand.

Operational advantages of this model

First of all, it should be noted:

  • excellent quality of materials used and high precision processing of components;
  • stable traction characteristics of the standard engine;
  • ergonomic handle configuration and convenient location of controls.

Despite the budget cost, proprietary design developments were used in the design of the chainsaw.

  • The model is equipped with an effective Air Injection centrifugal air purification system.
  • X-Torq technology reduces fuel consumption by an average of 20% and with a parallel 60% purification of exhaust gases from toxic components.
  • The design of the saw takes advantage of the effective anti-vibration spring suspension of the LowVib type engine.
  • The absence of vibration on the body helps reduce fatigue and maintain the user’s full performance throughout the entire cycle of sawing work.

Why the chainsaw won’t start - reasons and solutions

There are many reasons why a chainsaw won’t start or stalls.

However, recognizing them will not be difficult if you pay attention to the signs of breakdown. Below we will study the main breakdowns of chainsaws and methods for eliminating them yourself.

The chainsaw starts and stalls

If your chainsaw stalls when you press the gas, or stalls immediately after starting the engine, this indicates that the spark plug is filled with engine oil. Due to the fact that a large amount of fuel collects between its electrodes, the spark plug is not able to produce a spark. It is very easy to solve this problem with your own hands.

First you need to unscrew the spark plug and clean it thoroughly

In this case, pay special attention to the top of the spark plug at the location of the electrodes. A large amount of carbon deposits forms in this area, which interferes with the normal operation of the candle. After cleaning, you need to dry the spark plug, screw it back in place and try to start the chainsaw again.

After cleaning, you need to dry the spark plug, screw it back into place and try to start the chainsaw again.

Experts advise carrying out preventive cleaning of the spark plug every 10–15 hours of operation, because even if there is a spark and the spark plug is wet, the part will soon stop functioning due to the accumulation of carbon deposits. As a result, you will have to buy a new candle.

Chainsaw won't start when hot

If your chainsaw does not start at all when the engine is hot, then the reason for this lies in the tool’s motor being flooded. To solve the problem, you should perform a number of actions:

  1. First, move the throttle lever to the middle position;
  2. Pull the starter cable several times;
  3. Once the engine has started, let it run for 10 seconds and move the choke lever to the up position.

If this does not help, turn the “T” screw clockwise. At the same time, try to start the saw every ¼ turn of the screw until the saw begins to work stably.

The chainsaw picks up speed and stalls

If the chainsaw operates normally at idle, but stalls under load, then first of all you need to check the air filter. It often becomes clogged with dust, which prevents air from getting inside the fuel system.

If the filter is fine, check the carburetor and fuel filter for debris. Blockages prevent the engine from getting enough fuel to operate.

The chainsaw gets hot and stalls

If your chainsaw stalls when it gets hot, the first thing to do is check the fuel filter, fuel pump and air filter. If necessary, all these parts will need to be thoroughly cleaned. The same should be done with the breather, using a regular thin needle for cleaning.

If the engine stalls under load, replacing the fuel mixture will help solve the problem. If this does not help, and the chainsaw starts normally, but stalls when adding gas, then you need to inspect its fuel pump - most likely, the part has become unusable as a result of wear.

If a situation arises when the chainsaw does not start, it is important to correctly diagnose and determine the direction in which to look for the fault. Do not use tools that do not idle as this indicates a leak in the engine and can cause serious problems. If there is not enough experience in repairing a chainsaw, it is better to contact a specialist who will save your time and nerves.

Chainsaws, simple in design and reliable in operation, are very popular among private homeowners and summer residents. When handled correctly, this tool works for a long time and rarely breaks. Moreover, troubleshooting a chainsaw yourself is not difficult, especially if you know where to look for the cause.

Modifications

Husqvarna 240 has two modifications, these are Husqvarna 240 e series and Husqvarna 240 e series TrioBrake.

In the e series configuration, the saw is additionally equipped with a Smart Start system, which is designed to make it easier to start the chainsaw, as well as hinged fuel and oil tank covers, and a chain tensioning system without the help of an additional key. Essentially, the Husqvarna 240 e-series is a luxury version of the basic chainsaw model.

Husqvarna e-series TrioBrake is also a luxury model of the 240, only additionally equipped with innovative TrioBrake technology, which protects the operator in the event of a kickback. Upon external inspection, it is very easy to identify a chainsaw equipped with this system because it has an additional lever in the area of the handle under the right hand, which is responsible for activating the saw chain brake during a rebound.

The video below provides a description of how the system works and why it is needed.

Basic equipment

Basic equipment of the Husqvarna chainsaw:

  • packaging - cardboard box;
  • instruction manual with warranty card;
  • hand brake (located on the right hand side);
  • tool start and stop switch;
  • carburetor adjustment screws;
  • muffler;
  • saw chain, sprocket, tire blade;
  • rear handle, with right hand protection;
  • clutch cover (available on 135 and 135e models);

A complete overview of the components and working parts of the chainsaw is given in the instructions for the tool.

The country of assembly and production, according to the manual of the Husqvarna 135 model, is Sweden. Depending on the production series, there may be chainsaws assembled at the Husqvarna factory in the USA or China. To ensure the authenticity of the instrument, we recommend checking the serial numbers of the products using the search database on the website of the official manufacturer.

Cost of Husqvarna 135 chainsaw

The cost of the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw in Russia is 13,990 rubles; in Ukraine, a new model of this saw can be purchased at a price of 7,100 UAH. and higher. In the USA, the company's official website offers to buy the Husqvarna 135 chainsaw at a price of $229.95. Having looked at the reviews of the owners, you can see that a used chainsaw model in Ukraine can be bought for 2,500 UAH, in Russia - for about 7-8 thousand rubles.

Basic elements of chainsaws

Before we begin to delve into the issues of tool breakdowns and repairs, let’s first understand what a chainsaw actually consists of. First, I would like to note that this tool belongs to the category of equipment whose operation directly depends on the gasoline engine.

It is also important that chainsaws are equipped with an engine with one cylinder, and the work of which is done on such fuel as gasoline. The chainsaw is designed for use with characteristics of the stihl ms 180 chainsaw in comparison with

It should be noted that, despite the similarity with other tools, it does not have a gearbox. 2.0.1 the chainsaw stalls when you press on the gas, I have a Husqvarna 240 1.5 chainsaw. And it is replaced by a typical single-stage chain transmission, the means of which is the movement of the chain (saw) itself.

In fact, a chainsaw is a fairly ordinary design, but this does not prevent it from being reliable, convenient and capable of fully ensuring uninterrupted and cyclic operation even in rather difficult conditions. Chainsaw Partner 350: reasons the engine does not start, the chainsaw stalls when you press the gas? Why does the Stil 180 stall when you press the gas or... This tool consists of a huge range of certain parts “vital” for its correct and productive operation. This is a carburetor, a specific chain tension device, a tire equipped with a chain and other elements.

Before purchasing a chainsaw, be sure to explore all the options and choose the brand of chainsaw that is right for you.

To make your choice easier, we have compiled a rating of chainsaws based on reliability.

DIY chainsaw repair "Calm"

This brand is very popular among both individuals and professionals. This easy-to-use and reliable tool can serve for a long time without repair. There are situations when the Shtil chainsaw does not start or stalls immediately after starting. You can find out what to do in these cases by watching the video instructions.

If the chainsaw does not start

The reasons must be sought sequentially, moving from simple to complex.
You should not immediately disassemble the carburetor, which is equipped with many different parts and small elements. First of all, you need to check the availability of fuel and pay attention to its preparation. The mixture should consist of high-quality gasoline and oil, the brand of which is indicated in the instructions supplied with the saw.

The saw may not start due to the fact that at the moment of starting the spark plug is filled with gasoline. The problem is eliminated by drying or replacing the spark plug and draining excess fuel.

Quite often, if there is poor contact between the tip of the spark plug and the high-voltage wire attached to it, there may be no spark. In this case, the connection should be restored. If even after this a spark does not appear, then the electronic ignition unit is most likely faulty. It needs to be replaced with a new one.

You cannot count on easy starting and operation of a chainsaw if its filter is clogged. You need to take it out, clean it well and rinse it, paying special attention to the mesh.

Sometimes the saw engine does not start due to a malfunction of the cylinder-piston group . In this case, for repair you will need:

  1. Unscrew the bolts and remove the cylinder from the block.
  2. Check the integrity of the piston and cylinder.
  3. If the cylinder is damaged, it must be replaced with a new one, or repaired by boring the mirror to the size of the piston.
  4. Determine the degree of wear of the piston rings and replace if necessary.

For a tool that ran on relatively normal fuel, such procedures are quite sufficient. Now the saw can be assembled in reverse order .

Some parts of the Husqvarna and Shtil chainsaws need to be changed after the expiration of their certified service life. These deadlines are specified in the instructions supplied with the instrument. It also indicates how to properly wind the instrument. By acting according to the instructions, distinguishing between cold and hot starts and using the chainsaw strictly for its intended purpose, it will need to be repaired very rarely.

Model specifications

One of the advantages of the Husqvarna 240 petrol chain saw is its solid factory parameters.

The list of main characteristics of the model includes:

Husqvarna 240. And again about the carburetor. Design mistake or what is it?

Chainsaw HUSQVARNA 240

carburetor problem

.One of the most common diseases of this chainsaw. Excellent.

Checking and adjusting idle speed.

We find the highest idle speed, to do this we slowly turn screw L in different directions. After finding the position of the highest engine speed, turn screw L 1/4 turn counterclockwise. If the chain rotates at idle, screw T or (S) should be turned counterclockwise until it stops.

Checking and adjusting the maximum speed.

Changing the maximum number of revolutions is carried out by screw H. When it is screwed in (clockwise rotation), the speed increases, when turned out. are decreasing. The article discusses in detail the adjustment of the carburetor of a chainsaw with three adjusting screws, as well as the adjustment of the carburetor of a Shtil 180 chainsaw with one screw. Chainsaw engines have the highest rotation speed from 11,500 rpm. up to 15000 rpm. A higher speed is not ensured by the ignition, in addition, it becomes dangerous for the engine. Correct adjustment of the carburetor of chainsaws 180, 250, 260 and all models of Stihl chain saws with your own hands. Limit speeds can be determined by interruptions in ignition. If they do, screw H is turned slightly counterclockwise.

How to set up a chainsaw

In the process of repairing Husqvarna chainsaws with their own hands, they identify some faults that appeared as a result of incorrect ignition adjustments and carburetor settings.

The mechanism is responsible for engine speed and is adjusted for operation taking into account the necessary conditions:

  • climate:
  • height above sea level;
  • petrol;
  • loads;
  • oil used.

By default, for productive work, the factory settings of the carburetor of the Husqvarna chainsaw are set during testing.

The device has 3 customizable areas:

  • “L” - low speed jet;
  • “X” - high speed jet;
  • “T” - idle speed adjustment screw (XX).

To set up the chainsaw, after break-in, adjust the carburetor: first work with the “L” jet, then with the XX “T” and “X” screws. When “L” and “X” are rotated clockwise, the quality of the working air-fuel mixture deteriorates; when rotated counter-clockwise, it becomes richer. Rotating the screw “T” clockwise increases the idle speed.

Carburetor repairs are performed by a specialist.

Why does a chainsaw stall under load?

In some cases, the chainsaw is unable to work normally when under load and simply stalls. A common reason for this behavior is improper carburetor adjustment, or air leakage through the crankshaft seals or carburetor gasket. This behavior can also occur due to a leak in the carburetor.

A saw that is unable to operate under load will also be unable to maintain idle speed. They will "float". Diagnostics begins with checking the crankcase and carburetor for leaks. If air leaks are detected through the crankshaft seals, they must be replaced. If air leaks are detected in the carburetor, the cause can be eliminated by installing a repair kit of gaskets.

Only after the above actions have not yielded results and the engine crankcase and carburetor are sealed, can you begin to adjust the carburetor.

The reason for this algorithm is as follows: if air leaks from the crankcase are not eliminated, but the carburetor was simply adjusted to ensure normal engine operation, then the fuel mixture will contain more fuel than is required with a sealed crankcase, which in turn will significantly increase its consumption. Also, most likely, carbon deposits will appear in the engine, which will also negatively affect the further operation of the chainsaw.

In some models of chainsaws, to ensure the operation of the fuel pump, special hoses are installed that transmit an air impulse from the engine crankcase to the carburetor fuel pump. If this hose becomes frayed, the saw will idle unevenly and will not operate at all under load.

A video showing how to replace a defective impulse hose on a HUSQVARNA 142 chainsaw with your own hands can be viewed below. It shows step-by-step the process of disassembling the saw, shows the impulse hose and outlines the consequences of its improper functioning HUSQVARNA 142.

How to dilute gasoline for a Husqvarna chainsaw

For productive work and increased service life at high power, maintain the proportion of oil and gasoline for the chainsaw, measuring the ratio of the ingredients of the fuel consistency with a measuring tank. When producing even a small quantity, a small incorrectness affects the quality of the fuel.

For dilution, use high-quality gasoline with the lowest octane number - RON 90. If the parameter is less than recommended, the engine begins to knock, which leads to overheating and increased load on the bearings. When operating at high speeds the same, choose gasoline with an increased rating.

It is recommended to use 2-stroke oil.

To properly dilute gasoline for a chainsaw, use the following mixing scheme:

  • for engines with a cylinder displacement of up to eighty cm³ - 1:50 (2%), i.e. 5 liters of gasoline - 0.10 liters of oil;
  • for engines with a volume above eighty cm³ - 1:33 (3%), i.e. 5 liters of gasoline - 0.15 liters of oil.

Owner reviews

Vladimir, Irkutsk:

“I’m very pleased with the saw, I could not describe the review in detail, but I decided to share my opinion, since I often read some dubious remarks about Husqvarn. First and most important - do not chase cheap fakes, take the original. It will pay you back a million times over and will work conscientiously, without headaches for you.

Now for the instrument.

The chainsaw is just fire! It’s not for nothing that Husqvarna is the most famous chainsaw in the world. The brand justifies itself - an excellent selection of models for different tasks, quite affordable prices, good service. Service life - 2.5 years.

Advantages: it consumes both gasoline and oil moderately, exactly as needed. It cools down quickly, which I think is a plus. Convenient function of tightening the chain, you don’t fool yourself, tighten it and saw it.

Disadvantages: either I was unlucky, or this is their problem - the saw doesn’t start very well when “cold.”

Ilya, Voronezh:

“I was choosing a saw for myself, initially I thought of only two options - either Shtil or Husqvarna, and the latter won. I bought the 135th, now I don’t regret it a bit. Functional, cuts any wood, although I haven’t worked with super-dense wood, I don’t know, but it cuts through apple, pear, cherry and acacia perfectly. Of the components, I was very pleased with the chain; it was a piece of cake to remove and tighten. The total lifespan of a chainsaw is 3 years.

Pros: everything described above, very pleased with everything!

Features of the chainsaw

Among its competitors, the Husqvarna 240 16-inch chainsaw stands out due to its ergonomics and workmanship. The parts of its body are made of high-strength plastic, which is not afraid of contact with gasoline or oil. They all fit perfectly and the chainsaw looks like a single unit.

The chainsaw is well balanced and has a convenient location of controls.

The main features of the model include the presence of the following innovative developments from Husqvarna:

  1. Anti-vibration system consisting of reliable metal shock absorbers, which has a patented name LowVib;
  2. A system that combines throttle position and engine shutdown control;
  3. Air purification using a centrifugal Air Injection system;
  4. Last, but most important, is the X-Torq system, which will be discussed in more detail below.

Strainer in carburetor

The last possible place for a blockage to form is the strainer in the carburetor. The diagram below shows the number 13.

Read:

To clean the strainer, you need to remove the carburetor from the Windshield 180 chainsaw. The job begins by removing the top cover of the saw, after which the two nuts are unscrewed using an 8mm socket. In addition, it is removed from the filter housing guides, after which the choke rod and the engine control lever are disconnected. Finally, the fuel hose and throttle body are disconnected and the carburetor can be removed from the guides.

The carburetor filter is installed in the fuel pump chamber; to achieve it, one screw securing the pump cover is loosened and removed along with the gaskets.

Clean the mesh filter, you can only use compressed air. Any mechanical methods are strictly prohibited because the mesh is very soft and easily changes shape. It creases easily when you push it, and there are curves on the edge of the seat that prevent filtered fuel from getting into the carburetor.

During the cleaning process, the seat with the filter installed in it should be half-closed with your finger, and then only blow air, otherwise the mesh may fly away and can no longer be found.
