Now let’s look at the case of repairing an alloy wheel, in other words, a “cast” one.

There is only one method for repairing alloy wheels - straightening the disk. That is, repairs using the hydraulic press already described above, since aluminum alloy is much stronger and rollers will no longer help here. In the same way, a hydraulic press is brought to the disk fixed on the slipway and, under the necessary force, the geometry of the disk is restored. If the disc deformation is insignificant, then such repairs are carried out, what is called “cold”. If the disc deformation is significant, the area of ​​deformation is first heated to a certain temperature and then straightening occurs. It is not uncommon for cracks to appear on the disc after a strong impact to the disc. In this case, argon-arc welding is used to weld the fracture site.
