Types of saw chains, their technical features and selection rules

Chain sizes

Chainsaws are produced with different lengths of the bar along which the cutting set moves. Some saws can cut down thick tree trunks, while others are only suitable for trimming branches and preparing firewood in the yard. The length of the tire varies from 30 to 60 cm.

Chainsaw bars of various lengths.

Depending on this, the size of the saw chain is selected.

The size is written in inches, where the following options exist:

10″
12″
13″
14″
15″
16″
18″
and higher.

If you buy a saw set that is smaller in length, it will not be possible to install it on the bar. A longer chain will fit, but will sag, so it won’t work with such a chainsaw.

I bought a fake, what next?

What to do if you were in a hurry and already bought a Chinese chainsaw called Husqvarna 5200? The main thing is not to get upset and prepare for the fact that you will have to do all the repair and adjustment work yourself. Most likely, you will not find the operating instructions included with the saw, so to properly start the tool, refer to the video instructions:

As for repairs and adjustments of the carburetor, lubrication, etc., the design of the internal combustion engine and other systems is identical for all chainsaws, with the exception of some nuances, so you can be guided by similar devices. The characteristics are also not fully presented; the Chinese manufacturer indicated only the most basic ones:

ModelHusqvarna 5200
Cylinder volume25 cm3
Number of revolutions at idle3 thousand rpm.
Tire length40 cm.
Fuel tank capacity550 ml.
Chain lubrication tank volume260 ml.
Ready to use weight5.3 kg.

As a consolation, we can say that this tool also works; with proper maintenance, the chainsaw can work for quite a long time before the first repair. Spare parts are inexpensive - this is also a big plus.

Varieties of chain pitch for chainsaws

The next important parameter by which chainsaw chains are divided is the pitch. This refers to the distance between the centers of the rivets holding the links. In the figure, the size is indicated by the letter “a”.

The performance and ease of cutting depends on this characteristic. There are three standard sizes, written in inches.

The larger the chain pitch, the further the saw teeth are located from each other. This means that for a confident cut with a saw set with a large pitch, a powerful tool is needed. If there is not enough power, the teeth will tear the wood fibers, hit the material, and it will not be comfortable to work.

And vice versa, if you install equipment with a small pitch on a powerful saw, part of the energy will be spent on passing the already cut distance - the tool will run idle and with reduced productivity.

Chains with pitch - 0.325

This is the smallest size used in household amateur and some semi-professional chainsaws. It is otherwise designated as 1/4 inch . A saw set with this characteristic is suitable for low-power tools and trimming branches, twigs, and felling small garden trees. The cutting is carried out slowly, but without jerking. The cutting accuracy is high, so the chain is relevant for those who are engaged in artistic wood carving.

Chain with 0.325 pitch.

Chains with pitch - 0.375

Refers to the most popular size found on most semi-professional chainsaws. Otherwise known as 3/8 inch . By the way, the second notation is not arbitrary, but is obtained by dividing 3 by 8 = 0.375. It was invented in order not to confuse the similar characteristics of 0.325 and 0.375.

The 3/8 saw set is suitable for felling trees of medium thickness and preparing large volumes of firewood. When you go to the store to buy a chainsaw, there is a high probability that it will have a chain with exactly this pitch.

Chain with 0.375 pitch.

Chains with pitch - 0.404

The standard is found only on professional gasoline saws. Another designation is 3/4 inch . Since the 3/4-inch size is huge, the tool needs high power to confidently turn such equipment. If all the parameters are selected correctly, sawing with a chain will be quick and suitable for felling large trees and sawing large stumps.

But due to the distance of the teeth, there is increased vibration, which reduces the cutting accuracy, so it is not suitable for artistic work.

Analogs

In this power group, models of well-known brands ECHO CS-350WES-14, Sturm GC99372B, ZUBR PBC-490 45DP, as well as a number of identically priced chainsaws made in Europe and Asia are in stable demand.

Over 9 years of flawless operation, I replaced the starter and clutch spring once. The car is quite decent in terms of its capabilities. Among the disadvantages, one can note the high cost of branded oils. My saw uses chain oil twice as fast as gasoline. As far as I know, this phenomenon is typical for many budget cars. Test substitution of a new oil pump did not produce any results. I found a suitable equivalent, the TAD-17 transmission, and the situation stabilized. Other shortcomings include the lack of a toothed stop for securely fixing the saw when cutting round timber, the lack of visual control of the fuel and chain oil levels, and a not very convenient chain tightening scheme. Alexander

I liked the saw, it’s light, easy to use, quite powerful and easy to maintain. I have been using it for almost 7 years, the annual production is within 50-60 cubic meters of firewood. The tire is long enough to fell old trees. I bought an expensive carbide chain for sawing oak, but now I have big problems with sharpening. The engine is sensitive to fuel quality and sudden changes in air temperature. In some cases it is necessary to compensate by additional adjustment of the carburetor. At one time, I bought the instrument for only 8,000 rubles. Now I regret that I didn’t buy two at once. The service said that the production of cheap chainsaws was transferred to China. If this is the case, we can expect that relocation will inevitably affect the quality of the product range. Dimon

How do saws differ in the thickness of the saw chain shank?

The saw set consists of three types of links: working (which directly cuts), connecting (for the bundle) and driving (shanks).

Saw chain device.

The latter are used to fit into the tire and move reliably on it without slipping. There is a counter groove on the bar that accepts the shank. The thickness of the drive link and the width of the groove must match, otherwise the equipment will either dangle or will not fit into the seat.

There are five standard shank thickness sizes:

Size in mmSize in inchesDescription
1,10,043”These are links with the smallest section in thickness. They are only suitable for household saws and light loads.
1,30,05”One of the most popular sizes. Found on household and semi-professional chainsaws. Here is the optimal combination of reliability and chain weight.
1,50,058”Option for semi-professional gasoline saws with increased power.
1,60,063”Standard for professional tools.
20,08”Shanks of this size are quite rare, as they are found only on the most powerful professional-type chainsaws.

From this sequence it is not difficult to notice a pattern: the thicker the shank, the higher the mass of the headset and the more power a gasoline tool is needed to turn, but the strength and resistance to loads also increase.

Specifications

Despite belonging to the professional category, the tool weighs 6 kg and has small dimensions. Recent developments in the field of industrial design have made it possible to place all the necessary internal equipment and fuel and oil tanks in a compact housing.

The standard equipment of the 365th model involves the use of an economical two-stroke internal combustion engine with a displacement of 65.1 cm3 and an output power of 3.4 kW. The air-cooled power unit runs on a standard mixture of gasoline and motor oil.

Autonomous operation in areas remote from the base point is ensured by a fuel supply in the fuel tank with a volume of 770 ml.

Types of saw chains depending on the type of cutting links

The working links are equipped with teeth that cut wood. The convenience of sharpening and productivity depend on their shape. Let's look at the two most common options.

Chisel chains

If you look at the link in cross-section, you will see a clear profile reminiscent of the number “7”. People call such a saw set “seven” . Due to the smooth end surface and sharp corners, quick cutting of wood is ensured. The cut is precise and uniform. This type of chain is used in professional chainsaws. But it is difficult to sharpen it - the slightest deviation from the plane leads to beveled corners.

Chisel cutting link.

Chains with chipper cutting links

Here, the cross-sectional shape of the link resembles a sickle, which is why people call this type of equipment . When driven into wood, the teeth contact the material in larger areas than a chisel type, which increases the load and slows down the cutting speed. But if the headset gets dirty, the performance characteristics are not reduced - it needs to be cleaned much less often. This type of chain is also easier to sharpen, since it does not require maintaining even angles.

Chipper cutting link.

Tooth shape

The depth of cutting of the teeth into the workpiece depends on the level of the sharpened angle and the very shape of the links. Today, most often it comes in two types:

  • sickle-shaped;
  • in the form of the number "7".

Professionals call crescent-shaped teeth chippers, and teeth shaped like the number “7” – chisels. They differ not only in their appearance, but also in the features of their use during certain work.

saw tooth shape

Crescent-shaped teeth are typically used to cut soft wood. Chains with such elements are distinguished primarily by the speed of work and the ease of regrinding. Experts attribute the disadvantages of teeth of this shape to the increased load on the tool’s engine and its drive.

Teeth shaped like the number “7” are used for cutting hardwood workpieces. This way you can achieve consistent performance. After cutting, smooth the surface along the cut line. In addition, the tool in this case will not suffer from excessive loads. The main disadvantage of teeth made in the shape of the number “7” is wear over a relatively quick period of time. This ultimately requires constant sharpening, during which it is very important to maintain the angles. It is quite difficult to do this on your own. That is why teeth made in the “7” shape are used mainly by professionals.

Material for making cutting links

When choosing accessories for a chainsaw, it is important to visually check the correct shape and sharpness of the teeth. But it also requires proper selection of the chain according to the material of manufacture, which affects its service life. There are two common types.

High alloy chromium-nickel steel

Most saw chains are made from this material. They are suitable for felling forests, harvesting firewood, artistic wood carving, building houses from logs or timber, etc. But when they come into contact with denser materials, they quickly become dull or even become unusable.

Saw chain made of high-alloy chromium-nickel steel.

Carbide tipped

When it is necessary to process heavily frozen materials, very hard or with increased contamination, chains with carbide tipped teeth are used. They have increased wear resistance, which extends the life of the equipment under heavy loads. The presence of special carbide tips on the chain is indicated by corresponding markings on each tooth.

Chainsaw Husqvarna 345E – pros and cons of the model

Among the advantages of this tool, it is worth highlighting the presence of a quick-release filter, an effective inertial brake, a high-quality motor and low fuel consumption.

The disadvantages of the saw include the absence of a spring starter, combined throttle control and the proprietary Smart Start starting system. Technical features of the 345 model include:

  • Engine cylinder volume – 45 cm3;
  • Saw power – 2200 Watt or 3 liters. With.;
  • Fuel tank capacity – 510 ml;
  • The volume of the oil tank is 400 ml.
  • Country of origin: Sweden;
  • Ready-to-use weight: 6.9 kg.

This model is intended for use in the forest for the purpose of felling medium-sized trees, as well as for caring for the garden and harvesting logs before further construction.

Difference in the profile height of the cutting teeth of saw chains

The height of the chain profile affects the depth of cut. The higher the teeth, the faster the wood cuts through. But taller teeth contribute to increased vibration. The characteristics of the equipment are indicated in the documentation. Knowing it is necessary for the competent selection of saw accessories and proper sharpening.

Profile height.

There are two common types of profile heights.

Low profile chains (0.635mm or 0.025”)

Found on both professional and household chainsaws. It is small in size allowing for a slow and clean cut. Due to the low height, vibration is significantly lower. Having bought a chain with a high profile, you can convert it to a low one by grinding off the top ridge.

Low profile saw chain.

High profile chains (0.762mm or 0.03”)

High profile chains are developed only for professional gas-powered tools used in forest felling. The enlarged comb of the saw set facilitates quick “biting” of the equipment into the wood, but increases vibration and hand fatigue.

High profile saw chain.

Which profile is better?

It's worth clarifying a little here. Since the cutting speed depends on the chain pitch and profile height, different combinations of these parameters allow you to adjust the performance of the chainsaw and the load on the operator’s hands. The high profile and large 3/4" pitch provide increased load, so are only suitable for professional felling tools where speed is important but frequent breaks will be required.

For construction tasks, cutting firewood and other large-scale work, chains with a long pitch, but a low profile, or with a short pitch, but a higher profile, are used . It is difficult to say unequivocally which option is better, since the type of wood, the power of the chainsaw, and working conditions influence the result. Therefore, the optimal parameters are selected by trial.

Typical faults and repairs of Husqvarna chainsaws

Owners of Husqvarna chainsaws rarely experience breakdowns of their tools. However, if this does happen, then you can try to fix the problem yourself. Let's talk in more detail about how to identify a breakdown and repair a Husqvarna chainsaw without the help of a specialist.

How to adjust the carburetor on a Husqvarna chainsaw?

In case the Husqvarna chainsaw does not start, or it does not develop speed, the reason for this lies in the violation of the factory carburetor settings. To do this, the tool has 3 screws, marked with the letters “H”, “L” and “T”.

To set up a Husqvarna chainsaw, you need to proceed in this order:

  1. Adjusting the saw's carburetor begins with warming up its engine for 5 minutes. After this, start turning the “L” screw until you hear the maximum speed generated by its motor. Then immediately turn the screw a quarter turn in the opposite direction;
  2. Then, with one hand, press and hold the throttle trigger for 10 seconds. At the same time, with your second hand, turn the screw “H” a quarter turn to create maximum load on the motor;
  3. After this, release the gas trigger and start turning the “T” screw in the direction of the clock hand. As soon as the chain begins to rotate along the bar, turn the screw in the opposite direction until the chain stops.

How to remove the clutch on a Husqvarna chainsaw?

  1. Remove the air filter and unscrew the spark plug. If necessary, wipe the area around the chainsaw spark plug;
  2. At the next stage, you will need to remove the sprocket from the Husqvarna chainsaw - this will make it possible to carefully inspect the mechanism for blockages;
  3. The clutch coil is unscrewed in the clockwise direction. Under it there is a pressure washer, which also needs to be removed;
  4. At the end, the sprocket is replaced and a new clutch is installed. Reassembling the Husqvarna chainsaw is performed in the reverse order.

The first few starts of the chainsaw engine will be accompanied by ringing sounds - this is due to the fact that the drive sprocket will rotate until it finally falls into place.

Oil does not flow to the Husqvarna chainsaw chain - reasons and solution

  1. First, remove the protective cover and starter spring, after which the chainsaw air filter is dismantled.
  2. Below it on the right side there is an oil pump, which needs to be inspected for cracks and other damage. If necessary, replace the pump;
  3. If you notice that the oil hoses have moved away from their base, then they will also need to be replaced with new parts.

After installing new spare parts, you can continue working with the tool. In the future, use only high-quality oil from trusted manufacturers. The correctly selected sharpening angle of the Husqvarna chainsaw chain is also of great importance, since the speed of movement and the intensity of lubrication of the saw element depend on it.

Saw chains for rip and cross cuts

Using a chainsaw, wood can be cut lengthwise or crosswise. With the first type of cut, the equipment experiences less resistance because it separates the fibers from each other. With the second method, the fibers are broken in half, which entails increased load. If you often have to saw using one of the above methods, choose the appropriate headset. It comes in two types and the parameter must be specified in the characteristics.

Ripping chains

It is much easier to cut wood along the grain, so the chain is sharpened more sharply - 5-15 degrees. In this case, the teeth themselves turn out to be narrow and this can be seen even with the naked eye. But it is more convenient to cut boards or logs along the trunk on a table saw or with a manual circular saw, which has led to little demand for rip saw chains. If you have to work in the field and cut tree trunks with a chainsaw on site, choose this equipment.

Chain for longitudinal cutting.

Crosscut chains

This is a more common type of chainsaw chain, since the tool is used primarily for cross cutting (construction, firewood harvesting, pruning branches). In order for the teeth to cope with fiber rupture, they must be more “blunt” - the optimal sharpening angle is 25-35 degrees.

Cross cutting chain.

Which is the best product to buy?

The question arises when there is a need to cut wood, but there is not enough experience and knowledge. Experts recommend following these tips:

  1. Understand how much work needs to be done and what kind of material you will have to deal with. For cross cutting, a chisel tool is selected, for longitudinal cutting, a chipper tool is used.
  2. Understand the characteristics of a chainsaw, especially bar length and pitch. There is no point in choosing a specific brand; this indicator is not fundamental.

Where to buy the unit, everyone chooses independently. It is best to visit specialized outlets, talk with a sales manager, decide on the package, hold the tool in your hands, and ask the price. There is an option to order products online in an online store. The main thing is not to encounter counterfeit. This is the advantage of a branded store, where there is a minimal likelihood of purchasing a low-quality Chinese product instead of a branded product.

Semi-skip and skip saw chains

The standard design of a saw chain alternates working links with conventional connecting links, and the elements with teeth differ on the side of the protrusion into right and left.

They are placed sequentially during installation, ensuring uniform cutting across the entire width of the cut. It is generally accepted that 64 driving links should have 32 saw teeth. This results in a 50/50% ratio. Such equipment cuts perfectly and wears out for a very long time.

Working links are more expensive because they are made of durable steel, and some are also soldered. Metal for connecting links is cheaper. To reduce the cost of the saw set, some produce chains with semi-pass and skip. Let's consider what it is and whether the savings are justified.

Half-pass chains

This is a type of saw equipment where an intermediate connecting link is installed between pairs of teeth (the left and right form a pair). As a result, the number of cutting elements is no longer 50%, but 40%.

Half-pass chain.

Chains with skip

In the structure of such chains, an additional “extra” link is installed between each left and right tooth. This further removes the working elements from each other and about 30% of them can remain on one headset.

Chain with pass.

Rationale

Although using 30-40% cutting elements instead of 50% makes the chain cheaper, reducing the teeth makes the saw more aggressive. It twitches more often in your hands and tears the wood, reducing the accuracy of the cut. The scattered arrangement of teeth increases the load on the sprocket, tire and motor, so these components and parts wear out faster.

Hence we conclude: the use of a headset with a pass and a semi-pass provides short-term savings now, but results in increased costs for repairs or the purchase of a new chainsaw in the future.

Vibration and kickback when cutting

Neither the first nor the second can be avoided when working with a chainsaw, but their intensity can be reduced. Vibration in the saw chain occurs due to the collision of the cutters with the wood. At the moment of contact of the cutting edge with the tree, it becomes sandwiched between it and the tire for a split second. Part of the impact energy is transferred to the user’s hands through the headset, drive sprocket and saw body.

To reduce the kickback effect due to vibrations when cutting wood,:

  • beveled cut stop (ensures smooth movement of the chain due to the smooth sliding of wood from the cutter);
  • shock-absorbing protrusions on the shanks and connectors (help dampen vibration as it is transmitted to the sprocket);
  • beveled or raised heel of the cutter (provides subsidence of the chain at the moment of impact, which helps not only dampen vibration, but also reduces wear on the chain set and saw bar).

Thanks to the use of these structural elements in the chain, the risk of injury when the saw bounces due to contact of the toe of the bar with a hard surface is significantly reduced.

Popular brands of saw chains

If you have a chainsaw and need to choose a good chain for it, you can choose from proven products from well-known global manufacturers. Such companies produce various brands of saw chains for specific tasks, where the most optimal characteristics have already been selected. Let's look at some popular brands and their products.

STIHL saw chains

This is a German company that has been present on the tool market for almost 100 years. One of the leading manufacturers of gasoline saws in the world, and therefore has significantly succeeded in the production of chains.

Picco Micro Mini Comfort 3

The saw set is distinguished by its low profile and light weight. Suitable for small petrol saws. Due to its structure, it provides very low vibration and high cutting accuracy. She is comfortable working and there is no feedback in her hands. The brand of chain is optimal for artistic woodworking, caring for garden trees, or for using a chainsaw occasionally.

Picco Micro Comfort 3

This is another lightweight accessory from Stihl that is designed for smaller chainsaws. Low profile ensures clean cutting with minimal vibration. It is very comfortable to work. But the productivity of this chain is higher than that of the previous one, so it is suitable not only for pruning branches, but also for small-scale logging.

Picco Duro

The German manufacturer produces a chain with a low profile and links made of carbide material. This is an innovation among chainsaw accessories. Its peculiarity is that it maintains sharpness for a long time and requires editing four times less frequently than a standard chain. The headset is designed to withstand extreme loads. The use of soldered teeth did not lead to an increase in vibration - the feedback to the hands is extremely small.

Rapid Micro Special

A special brand that provides increased comfort when working with high productivity. The design features a shorter cutting edge on the teeth, so the operator no longer needs to apply pressure to the tire to speed up the plunge process. The sawing speed of the chain exceeds even that of a 3/4-inch headset. The equipment is recommended for working with garden trees or figured carving.

Rapid Micro

A universal brand of chain with a special tooth shape - they are semi-chisel-shaped. As a result, the chain is easy to sharpen, the speed of immersion into the material is high, and controllability is excellent. The manufacturer recommends the set for felling trees, longitudinal and transverse cutting, construction, gardening, and use in forestry.

Rapid Micro Comfort

Stihl brand of chain, characterized by a very soft cut and reduced noise. The effect is achieved thanks to the beveled shape of the stem of each tooth. Even women can work without headphones.

Rapid Micro Comfort 3

This is another type of chainsaw accessory that provides smooth immersion into the material and quiet operation. Holding the instrument in your hands is very comfortable, fatigue is minimal.

Rapid Super

The chain is designed for gasoline saws of medium and high power. Used only on professional equipment. Suitable for:

  • forest fellings;
  • cross cutting of workpieces;
  • tree trimmings.

Rapid Super Comfort

Brand for professional use when felling trees. Promotes rapid immersion into wood and low vibration. This is possible due to the shortened leg, which reduces the contact area with the tire. The lumberjack's hands will get less tired when doing large amounts of work. Reducing the friction side also reduces the noise effect.

Rapid Super Comfort 3

A brand of chain with a design difference - a protrusion on the leading link. The innovation contributed to a soft cut and reduced vibration. Otherwise, the equipment contains the same characteristics as the entire Rapid Super Comfort and Picco Micro series.

Rapid Duro

Chain for use in extreme conditions. The working elements are made of a special hard right, which retains its sharpness for a long time during everyday use of the tool. The brand of equipment is especially suitable for clearing debris with a large number of dirty boards or for felling frozen trunks.

Rapid Duro R

The saw set is designed for rescue work in clearing the rubble of buildings. Withstands increased loads and remains sharp for a long time. Each tooth is tipped with a hard material, which “bites” into the wood and successfully resists abrasion. To prevent soldering from flying off, solder is applied over the entire inner surface of the tooth. On the connecting links in front of the teeth there are protrusions that “prepare the way” for the cutting element to enter the slot and protect it from deformation.

Husqvarna saw chains

This manufacturer comes from Sweden and specializes in the production of chainsaws, lawn mowers and other garden tools. Chain brands from Husqvarna are designated by numerical and alphabetic indices. Here are the most popular ones.

H00

The shape of the teeth is similar to a micro chisel. The equipment provides a neat, clean and smooth cut with high precision. Light chain designed for small chainsaws.

H23

Here, the tooth shape resembles a solid chisel, and therefore the chain quickly sinks into the material, ensuring high productivity. Suitable for professional use and difficult conditions.

H25

The saw set is designed for increased motor speed. The teeth have a small corner radius. This makes it easier to penetrate logs and makes sharpening easier. Vibration does not occur in this case.

H30

A new product created for modern low-power gasoline saws. Due to the low rebound from the cutting surface and low vibration, it requires less force from the gasoline unit. This allows it to be used in conjunction with low-power saws. The cut will be thin and clear. But for heavy activities, such as clearing land for development, it is not suitable.

H36

Accessories for small chainsaws and low-power engines. The shape of the teeth resembles a chisel with a chamfer. This reduces vibration and eliminates kickback.

H37

Here the teeth are shaped like a microchisel with a chamfer. The chain gives a clean cut, high productivity and does not tire your hands. This type of equipment almost never bounces back. Suitable for low-power petrol saws and ideal for gardening and arborists.

H42

The teeth are made of the “chisel” type, which ensures cutting of wood fibers across without nicks. They tear neatly and the cut remains clean. Since there is no strong resistance, there is little vibration.

H64

The edge of each tooth has a small radius, which contributes to high sawing speed. Sharpening such a headset is also easy. The chain is adapted for felling large tree trunks.

X-Cut

This is a branded chain for professional use. Designed for everyday and active use. Easily bears loads and maintains sharpening for a long time. Stronger than analogs and provides high cutting speed.

OREGON saw chains

This is an American manufacturer that produces cool accessories for chainsaws. Products differ in performance and quality.

LGX

Equipment for super tasks. The chain has chisel teeth with right angles for maximum performance. Designed for installation on powerful chainsaws with long tires. If kickback occurs during operation, it is successfully extinguished by the patented Vibe-Ban system. The saw set also has side wedge-shaped cut depth limiters, so the blade does not bite and moves easily in the slot.

LPX

This series is designed for medium-intensity use. Super and Chisel cutters are implemented here, supporting high-speed operation. The end surfaces of the cutting links are shortened, so they do not collide with each other, the equipment is well tensioned and vibration is reduced by 25%. The chain is suitable for periodic logging.

BPX

Professional Oregon chain for intensive use for several hours a day. It implements several patented technologies:

  • Lubrilink - retains lubrication oil on links.
  • Lubriwell - provides holes in the shanks of the teeth, through which the lubricant itself is distributed throughout the entire groove of the tire, even if it is supplied occasionally.
  • Vibe-Ban - reduces vibration transmission from tire to operator by 25%.

Saving effort during work is achieved due to the type of Micro-Chisel links. They have a small rounding radius. Sharpening such a saw set is not difficult.

SpeedCut™ (95TXL)

A special series with low weight, reducing the load on the hands during long-term use. It features a narrow cutting edge and razor sharpening, which reduces resistance during operation and provides a narrow cut. A new type of lubrication system evenly distributes oil throughout the chain and increases its service life.

DPX/DX

The development is distinguished by a semi-chisel type of cutters with rounded side edges. Even if you are not particularly good at sharpening chains, this will not be a problem. The series is equipped with vibration damping technology and protects hands from excessive fatigue. Performance here is inferior to durability and efficiency. The equipment is suitable for processing hard wood where speed is not important.

91VXL

The chain design uses semi-chisel teeth. This is a universal brand for collecting firewood, construction, and gardening. The cutting elements are not demanding on the quality of sharpening and cut both soft and hard wood equally well. The equipment is unpretentious to temperature and works great in winter and summer.

91VXL Multi-cut™

This is a unique chain with an additional coating of the cutting part with chrome. The technology protects the teeth from abrasion when they come into contact with abrasive dirt particles. The saw set is suitable for cutting railway sleepers, tree trunks that were transported by drag and they collected a lot of debris, and laying logging routes.

90PX

This is an ultra-thin chain for a groove width of 1.1mm. But the manufacturer also managed to achieve a record weight reduction - 15% lower than similar equipment from competitors. Thanks to these characteristics, the chain has a high operating speed, a thin and clean cut, consumes less chainsaw fuel and places a reduced load on the engine and sprocket.

90PX

This is a chainsaw chain with 30-45 cm tires, which is suitable for construction or cutting firewood from non-hard wood. The equipment combines the advantages of chisel and semi-chisel chains. Chamfer-type cutters easily enter the material. This type of headset is used by both professionals and private homeowners.

  3. Prepare a mixture of AI-92 gasoline and oil for 2-stroke engines from Husqvarna in a ratio of 50/1 (1 liter of fuel per 0.1 liter of oil).
  4. Fill the saw with fuel and pour lubricant into the tank.
  5. The chainsaw starts.
  6. The functionality of the following systems is checked: the operation of the oil pump and conductive paths (chain lubrication), the operation of the brake during recoil and the operation of the chainsaw in idle mode.

Run-in duration

Run-in is carried out during the first 10 hours of operation. During this period, the chainsaw is operated under reduced load conditions - no more than 50% of the power of the power plant. In 10 hours, all moving parts of the unit are ground in, which increases the service life of the motor and the chainsaw itself.

Manufacturers

Currently, chainsaw chains from various manufacturers can be purchased in construction stores. The most popular among them are:

  • Stihl (Germany);
  • Oregon (United States of America);
  • Husqvarna (Sweden);
  • Dolmar (Germany).

chainsaw chain

The most popular chainsaw chains are from brands such as Stihl and Oregon. They are of good quality and reliability. In third place are devices from Husqvarna. This equipment manufacturer does not independently produce chainsaw chains. He places orders from the American brand Oregon. Less popular are Dolmar products. Despite this, their quality and reliability of use are practically no different from those of other circuits.

Inexpensive Chinese consumable spare parts for chainsaws can be bought from such Chinese brands as:

  • Rezer;
  • Champion;
  • Forza et al.

Chainsaw chains from the above companies are characterized by rapid stretching. In addition, they become dull over a relatively short period of time. Despite this, such products still enjoy corresponding popularity and demand among buyers.
