Re: DIY electric ice drill
Zhenya 500 They write that with a screwdriver you sometimes twist your hands, but you have an electric starter. After all, he could tie a fisherman in a knot. Aren't you afraid of breaking your hands?

Re: DIY electric ice drill
Sergey Samara You are deeply mistaken, everything is much simpler - if the drill sticks, the finger slips off the start button and the starter stops, and in a motor drill the clutch engages, the most important thing is that it is adjusted correctly

Re: DIY electric ice drill
We were going fishing in a small sea, the ice was 1.2-1.4 meters, we didn’t want to twist our hands, it was expensive to buy a motorized ice drill in a store. I decided to make an electric ice drill from what I had in the garage, it didn’t work on the first try, the silumin gear broke, I replaced the gear with a steel one, I’m posting what I got. Composition: 1. Starter from Mazda (free) 2. Gears from the Gazelle timing mechanism (engine 406), more precisely the tensioner star, camshaft (necessarily steel) (free) 3. Gearbox from an angle grinder (I don’t know the brand, I took the largest one in the workshop) (500 rubles) 4. Copper wires in rubber insulation (I don’t remember exactly, but not expensive) 5. Adapters for drill Photos below:
Video of an electric ice drill in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgOnL3yZ … re=mh_lolz The thickness of the ice is approximately 1-1.2 meters. Hole drilling speed is 30 seconds. In my opinion, not a bad result Edited by mixangarsk (April 18, 2013 15:10)

Re: DIY electric ice drill
Fishing is relaxation and pleasure. And carrying around a unit weighing 20 kilograms, plus a battery and wires, this will not be fishing. It will be a competition in the number of holes drilled. All these electric drills, screwdrivers and so on are for the lazy, and not everyone has a car or a motorized dog to carry it all with them.
